Welcome artists, vidders, and fanmixers! Claiming is now open! Claiming closes end of the day April 11.
Here's how claiming will work: Fill out a claim form, selecting between 2 and 6 stories you’re interested in working on. After that, the moderators will go over the lists—doing our best to give you your first or second choice—and assuring each story has at least one claim (and hopefully at least one artist or vidder).
What You See: Below the cut are summaries for each story that will appear in the 2012 SG-1 Big Bang. Included with the summary are pairings, ratings, and warnings.
To Claim a Story: Comment to this post with the claim form below. Choose 2–6 stories, and list them in your order of preference. Make sure you include the number of the summary and title of each story. We will give priority based on when we receive claims, so claiming sooner gives you a better chance at your first pick.
If you think you can work on multiple stories and fulfill the minimum requirements—those being, 3 pieces of art, 1 vid, or 1 fanmix (of at least 6 songs)—please sign up for an additional claim! This could be a way for you to still work on your first-choice story.
Please submit your claim form by April 11.
Claim Confirmed: Your claim will be confirmed when drafts are sent by April 15. If you submit a claim form and have not officially signed up for the challenge, please make sure you sign-up for the challenge at the appropriate post. Your email contact information will be needed to send you the rough draft and allow communication between you and your writer.
There are currently no due dates assigned! Once you've received your rough draft, you and your author will need to claim a posting month (those claims start around April 20 at
sos_lounge).
Story Summaries
01 At Midnight All the Agents (R)
Pairings: Jack O'Neill/Danielle Jackson
Warnings: Apocafic, character death (some explicit, some implied)
Summary: fusion (SG-1, SGA, NCIS, NCIS:LA); alternate universe genderflip, post-series
Disclosure is less than half a year away, and General O'Neill and Dr. Danielle Jackson are making a number of whistlestop meet'n'greets to bring more races under the IOA umbrella. But on their return from the latest one, they don't walk back into the SGC. They walk into a Goa'uld throneroom. They escape to Cimmeria one jump ahead of the Jaffa, but not before they see that Leroy Jethro Gibbs has become a Jaffa First Prime.
And this universe's Danielle Jackson is a Goa'uld Queen
It's clear that the timeline has been meddled with. To find out when, they turn for help to their only possible ally: Ba'al. Ba'al provides Jack with a ship, and Dani with the means to impersonate the Goa'uld Queen Nefirtiri. She will infiltrate the court, while Jack finds out what's happening Earthside. There, he must convince a Resistance led by Elizabeth Weir and her lieutenant, former CIA Analyst Jenny Shepard, that he is not a Goa'uld spy. He discovers that Nefirtiri is building a temple complex in the crater that once was Cheyenne Mountain, and that the Resistance holds the ultimate high card: a naquaadah bomb built by Merry McKay that is capable of destroying Nefirtiri's ship.
If they can get it there.
02 The Ghost and Dr. Jackson (NC-17)
Pairings: Daniel Jackson/Jack O'Neill, Samantha Carter/Teal'c, Jacob Carter/Mrs. Selmak, Cassandra Fraiser/Sally Kinsey implied
Warnings: 1850 New England; character death by illness (referenced), suicide (referenced), and murder.
Summary: alternate universe
Dr. Daniel Jackson, Egyptologist and linguist, and his close friend, the dapper and courtly Mr. Teal'c, move into Gull Cottage, a beautiful home overlooking the sea. Dr. Jackson hires the local architects Carter & Carter, to convert the defunct lighthouse on the property to a library. Dr. Jackson quickly realizes that the house's reputation for being haunted by its former inhabitants may be well deserved. A beautiful woman bakes bread in the kitchen as a small boy plays by the fire. A man sobs inconsolably in Dr. Jackson's bedroom. And Dr. Jackson is inexplicably drawn to the portrait of the sea captain that hangs over the hearth in the drawing room. Did Judge Kinsey murder Jack O'Neill to steal his home and fortune? Will Miss Carter return Mr. Teal'c's affections? Will Dr. Jackson be able to make peace with the ghost of Gull Cottage? This is an AU inspired by the wonderful movie The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, but it is not a retelling of that plot.
03 Phoenix (R)
Pairing: Sam/Daniel/Teal'c, Sam/Jack, Sam/Jack/Daniel/Teal'c
Warnings: apocafic
Summary: No one expected the end of the world to come from the world itself. It was supposed to be aliens and explosions coming from above, not a maelstrom of earthquakes and volcanoes and floods, turning most of the planet into uninhabitable wasteland. Three-fourths of SG-1 crawls out of the rubble that used to be Cheyenne Mountain and reluctantly have to leave Jack behind, presumed dead. Threats of alien invasion and hostile takeover are replaced by finding food and shelter; daily briefings and offworld missions are traded for security concerns and rebuilding. Sam, Daniel and Teal’c find that there’s more to survival than supplies and a place to wait out the storm. And that sometimes ghosts of the past aren’t really dead at all.
04 The Jack and Daniel Survival Fic (NC-17)
Paring: Jack O’Neill/Daniel Jackson
Warnings: psycholoigal whump
Summary: Jack and Daniel are on their way home from Thanksgiving with Jack’s folks when the truck breaks down. Stranded on a deserted back road in the middle of nowhere, the two men must survive blizzard conditions long enough for search and rescue to find them. That is, if anyone will know where to look.
05 Deep Trouble (R)
Pairings: potentially Sam/Jolinar/Martouf/Lantash
Warnings: apocafic, some violence, non-graphic torture, sex (possibly)
Summary: alternate reality, canon AU
When Apophis returned with his ships to take his revenge on the Tau'ri, the only option was escape. Exiled on another planet with a minimum amount of supplies and allies, the plan is still to take back Earth. The only hitch? Their best chance at beating the Goa'uld is a Goa'uld, specifically a rebel named Jolinar who has taken Sam as a host. With Jolinar's allegiance uncertain, she must win over the trust of the Tau'ri and their leaders before she can return to the Tok'ra to forge an alliance that could change the galaxy.
06 The Janissary: Abydos (R)
Pairing(s): Jack O’Neill/Daniel Jackson
Warnings: language, violence, non-major character death
Summary: alternate universe
For centuries the Janissaries, America's slave-soldiers, have served her well, their lives devoted to the welfare of their Citizen owners. Now, Dr. Daniel Jackson is leading the first expedition through the Stargate, taking his personal Janissary, Jack O'Neill, with him. On the planet Abydos, the Expedition will face new enemies with courage and ingenuity. But in the end it will be their new friends who test their commitment to the limits. For what happens when a world of newly freed slaves wishes to return the favor?
07 Vampires, and Werewolves, and Wormholes, Oh My! (PG-13)
Pairings: Daniel Jackson/Jack O'Neill. Implied Sam Carter/Jonas Quinn
and Vala Mal Doran/Cameron Mitchell
Warnings: semi-graphic violence, violent imagery
Summary: fusion (SG-1, Twilight); alternate reality
Jack O'Neill has just been recalled to active duty and assigned to the Stargate Program. Taking the place of the legendary Jack O'Neil - with one "L" - is more difficult than he expected, particularly since he seems to have inherited his name doppelganger's former team. Although he first struggles to fit on the gloomy base nestled deep in Cheyenne Mountain, his only friend the Jaffa called Teal'c, he slowly discovers that there is much more going on than aliens and wormholes. And what is with that Daniel Jackson, the mysterious archeologist who will barely even look at Jack, let alone talk to him?
08 Once a Master (PG)
Pairings: Cam/Janet, Daniel/Vala
Warnings: none
Summary: AU (this story is set in the Magor ‘verse)
In a world of magic retired Nandeer Jack O'Neill, the former head of the powerful Sagone, has gone rogue, on a murderous killing spree. His former Apprentice Nandeer Cam Mitchell is called upon by the Council to stop him. Mitchell gathers his friends, his comrades, the Sagone and sets out on a quest to find his former Master and stop him, any way he can.
09 Untitled (NC-17)
Pairings: Cam Mitchell/John Sheppard
Warnings: sex
Summary: crossover (SGA), canon AU
The Pegasus Galaxy is a place where unknown dangers lurk around every corner. The inhabitants of Atlantis know each mission could be their last, but what about those they've left behind on Earth. Cameron Mitchell takes the same risks as John Sheppard on a daily basis, but that doesn't make reading about his numerous near-death experiences any easier.
10 Touched (NC-17)
Pairings: Cam Mitchell/Vala Mal Doran
Warnings: sex
Summary: Cam and the team go on a mission to a previously Gou'Ald occupied planet. Cam finds an ancient artifact that makes him only able to feel one person... Vala.
11 Center Ice Is Where I Wanted to Meet You (R/NC-17)
Pairings: Cameron Mitchell/Evan Lorne
Warnings: men cursing and some sex (maybe)
Summary: It's the race towards the Stanley Cup for the Colorado Stargaters.
12 Of Rescue Missions and Invasions (PG-13)
Pairings: (none)
Warnings: Ninja fighting
Summary: crossover (Naruto), AU with clones, third part of a trilogy
When the cloned SG-1 decided to help Suna invade Konoha they knew it wasn't going to be an easy thing, but they hadn't expected a rescue from their originals to show up at the same time. Now they have another decision to make: are they staying as Ninjas or leaving as Clones?
