eilidh17The sign-up process for the SG-1 Reverse Big Bang is now closed and invites to both the Livejounal and Dreamwidth Lounges have been sent out. If you have not already accepted your invite/s then you should do so ASAP as all further challenge correspondence will be posted there.

Information post for all participating artists will be going up in the next few days. This will serve as a reminder to the image size and content rating required, as well as any other pertinent challenge information.

Please remember, you are not committed to the SG-1 Reverse Big Bang until you select a visual prompt during the claiming period, starting 15th of January 2017. Signs-ups close when claiming ends.

Deadline for art submissions: 8th of January 2017
Claiming post goes live: 15th of January 2017

The rules for the Reverse Big Bang are quite simple:
Artists:
1. Artists submit artwork of a topic/theme of their choosing from within the SG-1 universe.
2. The artwork can be any genre but must be of a G/PG nature only.
3. Image size: 1024 x 768 Format: Jpeg or PNG
4. Images for the challenge are not to be shared anywhere else until the story your image was chosen for has been posted.
5. Manips will be accepted as part of a wallpaper but must be in keeping with the rating of G/PG.
Authors:
1. During the claiming period, all challenge artwork will be posted to the Big Bang Lounge and authors will be able to claim via comment. All comments will be screened and the artwork will be handed out on a first come basis.
2. Minimum word count is 5,000.
3. All stories must be beta'd. A beta reader will be provided if you do not have one.
4. Posting commences on the 7th of May 2017. A date preference post will be issued closer to the deadline.
5. Posting of your story must include the image you selected, giving credit to the artist.
6. Authors who do not have a Livejournal or Dreamwidth account must be able to post their work to an archive that supports image upload.
Posting instructions will be uploaded to the Lounge closer to the story deadline date.

For something a little different, we've decided to hold an SG-1 reverse big bang. So, what is a reverse big bang? This is where artists produce wallpapers, and then authors claim whatever wallpaper gives them inspiration and write a story based on that work. At the end of the challenge, both the work and wallpaper are posted together.
Minimum word count for the challenge is approx 5,000. A beta reader will be provided for anyone who requires one. The rules are pretty cut and dry for this challenge. You sign-up, select the piece you get the most inspiration from, write your story, and post on the due date.
The proposed timeline is as follows:
Artist and author sign-ups open: 4th of December 2016
Sign-ups close: 18th of December 2016
Deadline for art submissions: 8th of January 2017
Claiming post goes live: 15th of January 2017
Claiming ends: 22nd January 2017
Deadline for stories: 30th April 2017

Authors and artists will be invited into the Big Bang lounge as per previous years.
For those of you who prefer the normal Big Bang, we will be running that towards the middle of 2017, with posting to take place around Christmas. We'd love to know if this challenge appeals to anyone.

I didn't post a challenge this year because I have been crazy busy and just couldn't devote the time needed to run onee, but... I'm in the mood for writing a nice long story and figured maybe others are as well. If I start up another Big Bang, the posting date wouldn't be until well into the new year, probably closer to mid year.
So... Anyone interested in another Big Bang?

This is the thread to sign up for the SG-1 Big Bang Challenge as an author. Please remember, you are not committed to the SG-1 Big Bang until you submit your detailed story outline on August 15,2015—the same day sign-ups close.

August 15: Detailed story outline and summary due by email to moderators
September 6: Story outline is sent out to artists/vidders.
October 18/November 21: Final story of at least 15,000 words due in the queue for moderated posting. The month your story goes in the queue will depend on whether your posting date is in November or December*
*Due dates for posting will be assigned in Sept/October.

For those wishing to participate through AO3, please click on the SG-1 Big Bang to access the collection site, and then click on 'Profile' for the rules. Due to limitations with the AO3 interface, stage instructions, sign ups and any other relevant information will be posted directly to the site as an entry. This allows participants and other interested parties to leave comments to that post. The sign up process will require prospective participants to copy the sign up form from the sign up entry post and copy it to a comment. Almost exactly how the process is conduction on the journals.

Running this challenge for the past three years has been a labor of love, and while we’re sad to step away, we’re also eager to have more time to possibly be participants again! Ownership of the community will be passing to the new moderators in just a few days, so if you have any questions during the transition, please bear with us while I bring them up to speed.
