Summary: For centuries the Janissary, America's slave-soldiers, have served her well, their lives devoted to the welfare of their Citizen owners. Now, Dr. Daniel Jackson is leading the first expedition through the Stargate, taking with him his personal Janissary, Jack O'Neill. On the planet Abydos, the Expedition will face new enemies with courage and ingenuity. But in the end it will be their new friends who test their commitment to the limits, for what happens when a world of newly freed slaves wishes to return the favor?
